Asif Ahmad
Vice President & Chief Information Officer
Asif Ahmad is vice president for Diagnostic Services and chief information officer for Duke University Health System and Duke University Medical Center. He provides leadership, direction, and strategic planning for the information technology staff and functions in support of the Health System. Through his leadership the Health System’s diverse technology resources have been united in name and spirit under the moniker Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS). As the Vice President Diagnostic Services he is responsible for developing the overall strategy of diagnostic support for DUHS, these services include Radiology and Clinical Labs/Pathology. Mr. Ahmad also provides leadership and direction over medical technology and clinical engineering. Additionally, Mr. Ahmad is responsible for overseeing the Health Information Management group for the health system.

Pat Douglas
Director, Administration and Fiscal Management
Director, Administration and Fiscal Management
Pat Douglas is the Director of Staff Resources & Special Projects. She is responsible for providing leadership, management and oversight for Human Resources, staff recognition and enrichment activities, space and facilities management, coordinating the management of office functions, and assisting Mr. Ahmad in implementing various Health System initiatives. In her role as Interim Director of Finance, Pat manages IT financial resources and assets across DUHS. This includes capital planning and management, financial policy development, interpretation and administration for DHTS.
Berit Jasion, RN, MA
Associate Chief Information Officer - Technology, Informatics, and Education Services
Berit Jasion provides direction for Customer Support Services which includes the Help Desk, desktop and clinical workstation support, internal systems design and project liaisons; in addition, Technology Education Services and Nursing Informatics, a team of informatics nurses supporting the life cycle of the clinical information systems throughout the DUHS.

Jeffrey M. Ferranti, MD, MS
Associate Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Analytics and Patient Safety
Dr. Ferranti is the Associate Chief Information Officer for Health Analytics and Patient Safety at Duke University Health System. He provides physician leadership to the enterprise data warehouse group and works to integrate clinical and safety data across the health system. Dr. Ferranti's responsibilities also include leadership of the peri-operative development team. This alignment enables better data integration across the continuum of care, and positions the data warehouse to better support the clinical, academic, and business missions of the health system. He is the Principle Investigator of an AHRQ funded research study entitled “Automated Adverse Drug Event Detection and Intervention”. He is a practicing neonatologist at Duke University medical center, and holds a master’s degree in medical informatics from Duke.

Janis Curtis is responsible for the leadership, corporate management and oversight of the information technology (IT) operations at Durham Regional Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, enterprise clinical labs, and Duke Health Community Care (i.e., home health, hospice, and home infusion services).

James Tcheng is responsible for the development, deployment, management, and regulatory compliance of the medical knowledge content incorporated and embedded in information technology solutions of Duke Health System.

Boyd Carlson provides leadership in the development of mission critical applications across Duke Medicine. He is responsible for developing strategies that promote interoperable applications across the Heath System that are safe, effective and efficient.

Director, Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS) and Radiology IT
Harrell Chotas provides leadership and strategic planning for clinical image management and image access throughout DUHS. Also responsible for Radiology Informatics and associated clinical systems.

Tony Caruso provides direction and leadership to the Clinical Engineering department for the Duke University Health System. The department is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

Barbara Woolley has responsibility to direct and coordinate the activities of the Health Information Management Departments
